The Island of Hydra

After we got home from camp on Saturday night the plan was to go on a prayer walk that the nation participates in.  They have a band that plays worship and drives in the walk.  We were eager to get out there and pray and worship.  The president of the prayer walk decided it would be best to cancel the walk because of the rioting.  We were a little disappointed, but knew the Lord was protecting us and we trust Him.  Vasilia took us out on the town so we could see more of Athens and shop and eat.  As we were walking we saw the prayer walk! I guess another leader of the walk had thought they should still participate. We watched as they walked by singing praises and holding up banners saying” Jesus is the way the truth and the life” and other banners in Greek.  It was really neat to witness!
Sunday morning we got up really early and took a ferry to the island of Hydra. We found a nice spot by the beach where we could swim, snorkel and dive off rocks into the sea. The water temperature was perfect! It was clear and green, there were fish all around us.  Later we ate lunch and shopped a bit.  We went back to the beach and swam more where more of our team got the guts to jump off the rock about 25 feet up.  Some of them took about 20 minutes or more to jump!! I won’t name name’s…cough..Anastacia….cough…Lisa….cough….Dominique. Haha! It was fun though because some of us paddled in the water for a half an hour encouraging them. We ate dinner later that night as the sun set as it would be our last dinner in Greece together as a team. We all went around in a circle and shared ONE of our favorite memories. Some of us were in tears, but we laughed as well reminiscing about the most amazing times we had together as a team, uniting with our family here in Greece and encouraging them in the Lord!
